A Yerdle Story: Adopting a Zero-Waste Lifestyle

Emily S. from Indiana shares the motivating factor behind her decision to lead a practically zero-waste lifestyle. Here’s Emily’s story:

“About 6 months ago, I started thinking about my carbon footprint more seriously.

I've always had an appreciation for the Earth and what I could do to make the environment better, but I put limitations on myself and my impact.

I subscribed to the belief  that I couldn't live as green as I wanted to in America.

Around this same time, I came across a story of a woman who reached zero waste in one year.

Zero waste meaning that she lives a lifestyle that produces zero or the least possible amount of trash to reduce landfill waste and the negative effects certain product production has on the Earth.

I instantly clicked with this idea and began making the changes necessary to begin a zero waste lifestyle.

This is where Yerdle made a huge difference in my life.

Not only does it allow me to ethically purge items I can no longer use in my household, it also offered me the opportunity to save other items I do need from a lifetime in a landfill!

So many of my needs include many of the items frequently posted to Yerdle, such as jars of all kinds, cloth totes, and fun oddities like a safety razor!

I absolutely adore this community, and I adore what Yerdle stands for in my life.

My life consists of the 5 R's (reuse, reduce, refuse, recycle, and rot) and Yerdle allows me to accomplish 2 very efficiently!"
