Recently, we had the chance to catch up with Sue, and active yerdler and busy working mom. She shared with us why she loves getting things for her kids on yerdle, and a few of her family's favorite yerdle finds. Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I have two kids ages 3 and 5. I have worked in environmental health for
about 20 years. A lot of it touches on consumption of the planet… and looking at production mapping and getting us towards a more sustainable way of
life. I guess you could say I'm a bit of an eco-mom!
How long have you been using yerdle?
I had signed up fairly early but I didn’t use it right away.
What made you try it?
I’m a big believer in wanting to get as much possible use out of things. I have young kids and often times, the stuff we buy is actually not used for so long. This is perfectly good stuff that should have a long life - I'd love to get it in the hands of someone new. And I like the sharing aspect of bringing together friends and community.
What are some of your favorite items received through yerdle?
My daughter got a Hello Kitty sweatshirt that she loves. She’s been wearing it everyday. She’ll put it on in the
morning and wear it all day until she comes home, even on warm days. My husband had been planning on buying her a Philadelphia Phillies windbreaker, but now that’s on hold since she’s really into Hello Kitty right now. We also recently picked up two kids bikes. My kids are 3 and 5 and there happened to be two bikes on yerdle that were the right size. I had been dreading going to the store and buying them new ones, so the timing was perfect. My kids are so excited for these new bikes.
What would you tell a friend about using yerdle?
I tell friends that it’s really great to pass on things and give them another life. It’s really easy to use – you open the app, see what’s available, and say you’re interested, and it’s good for the environment at the same time.
