When we started Yerdle, we figured it would mostly work with durable household goods: blenders, skirts, and baseball gloves. That's why I was surprised recently to find a great selection of wax candles on Yerdle.
My daughter Mila's birthday was coming up, and I wanted to make the night festive. So I went to Amazon.com and ordered their least expensive 11 inch tapered candles for $21.00 with free Prime shipping. After ordering them I decided to check Yerdle, just in case. I found lots of candles, including a beautiful red set from Sara Dunaway.
For $10 Yerdle dollars and $5 shipping I was able to get a nicer set from Sara than Amazon. With a service fee, $5 shipping + $2 service fee is only $7 USD. That's a lot less than $21.00 on Amazon, even with free shipping.
I received my Amazon candles two days later. They were each wrapped needlessly in plastic. They were in three plain nested brown boxes.
And then the next day I received Sara's candles.
The night was perfect. And as the candles burned I considered the beauty of what Sara had given me. She saved me money. She decorated the package. She saved the candles from being wasted. These are the most special candles I've ever lit. Thank you Sara. And thank you everyone who Yerdles.
